UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION

Admission policies and procedures for Academic Outreach courses vary. Students are responsible for understanding admissions policies and planning accordingly. Click here to apply online.

You may enroll in undergraduate Independent Study and Online courses without applying for admission to The University of Alabama. However, admission is required to enroll in courses offered in other formats. Enrolling in a single course does not constitute formal admission, which is required to earn a UA degree. Courses that require admission may be taken as a non-degree-seeking, transient, or formally-admitted student.

Non-degree-seeking Students
Students may take a maximum of 12 semester hours without working toward a particular degree. The University cannot guarantee that courses taken in this manner will apply toward a degree program. Please select 'Non-degree-seeking' under Program Type on the application. Click here to apply online.

Transient Students
If you are currently enrolled at another institution, you may enroll in courses as a transient student. An official statement of good standing from your current institution is usually required. Please check with your home institution before registering for any courses to ensure transferability of credit. Please select 'Transient Student' under Program Type on the application. Click here to apply online

Formal Admission
The External Degree Program is a unique program whereby adults may pursue a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at a distance. Please click here for admission procedures and requirements. If you wish to pursue another undergraduate degree that is offered through Academic Outreach, please click here to apply online.
